We will be picking up where we left off from last meeting. This class will cover every single adverse condition that could ever be found in an old house. Ok, maybe not all of them, but a lot of them. The format will follow the ASHI SOP: what’s the condition, why does it matter, and what should be done about it?

  • Drum traps
  • Floor drains
  • S-traps
  • Unvented drains
  • Steel drains
  • Sewer inspections: old homes or all homes?
  • Problems with galvanized steel and lead water supply pipes
  • Cross connections: problems and solutions
  • Asbestos
  • Overhead electrical wires (service drop)
  • Fuses services
  • Knob & tube wiring
  • Ungrounded three-prong outlets
  • Ungrounded lights

Registration includes unlimited pizza, salad, breadsticks, and soda.

September 2019: Aftermarket vent products

Topic: Aftermarket vent products
Speaker: Dim Dwyer, Tjernlund Venting ProductsTjernlund venting product is a local manufacturer of aftermarket products to help things work better. They make draft assist products for water heaters, which can allow a natural draft water heater to vent out the side of the house. The first time you see one of these products, you might be thrown for a loop. Come and learn what they’re all about.

Tim will also discuss aftermarket dryer duct boosters for extra-long dryer duct runs, AireShare Transfer Fans for room-to-room circulation, and crawl space & reversible basement ventilation fans.

Code conformance and building code acceptance for all of these products will also be discussed.
